Owners and Staff
FreshAir Adventure is co-owned by Alan Moore and Joseph Miller. The summer of 2010 will be our fifteenth year of offering high quality sea kayak tours to those visiting our area. Whether you have paddled before or for the first time, we strive to make your FreshAir experience the highlight of your vacation. Our guides are an enthusiastic group of people who enjoy sharing with you our part of the Bay of Fundy.

Joe  has a bachelor's degree in Outdoor Recreation from Lakehead University and a Masters degree in Adult Education from the University of New Brunswick. Along with being a skilled paddler and avid outdoors man, he is a certified instructor by Sirius Wilderness Medicine, Association of Eastern Canada Sea Kayaking Outfitters, and Canadian Recreational Canoeing Association. For a number of years he instructed in the Outdoor Adventure Program at the New Brunswick Community College in Saint Andrews. A career change places him in Fort Providence NWT for 2010 -in the RCMP. Congratulations!

Alan  has a Masters degree in science and comes to FreshAir Adventure after a career in teacher education. He is co-author of the junior high textbook series, SciencePlus. Besides helping in the smooth operation at the home-base, he enjoys being a guide on many trips - sharing his insights into the geology of the area, the unique ecosystems of the Fundy coastline, its marshes and other "Fundy" phenomena. Off season, Alan spends time travelling to exotic locations around the world. Over the past few years he took part in multi-day kayaking trips in spectacular Ha Long Bay, Vietnam and in Tonga. Other recent trips have taken him to New Zealand, Argentina, Peru, Panama, Laos and Belize.
Dalen Betts is another graduate of the Saint Andrews Community College Adventure Recreation program. Besides sea kayaking he is a snow board enthusiast and has instructed snowboarding in British Colombia and New Brunswick. This is his Third year with FreshAir Adventure. Fluently bilingual, he participates on most of our French speaking tours where his lively good humor is appreciated by our English and French speaking guests alike.

Heather Fenn is from Oakville, Ontario but escapes to the east coast each summer. She has guided on the Bay of Fundy and the south coast of Newfoundland for the last three summers. During the the rest of the year she studies Environmental Toxicology and French at the University of Guelph and coaches ski racing. This is her first summer kayaking at FreshAir Adventure. Other than kayaking she enjoys camping, jogging and traveling!

Nic LePage hails from Woodstock, New Brunswick and graduated from NBCC-Hospitality Tourism Management Adventure Recreational Program in Saint Andrews in 2009. This will be his first year with FreshAir Adventure. When he's not on the water he can be found hiking, camping or instructing snowboarding in the winter. With his interest in adventure recreation, and background in guiding, Nic will be a valuable member of the FreshAir team.
Derek Hoddinott is from British Colombia and is pursuing a vocation in the field of nursing. Derek visited and worked for FreshAir for several weeks last summer and made such a good impression that we asked him to come back full time. His easy going nature, work ethic and frendly ways will ensure that visitors to FreshAir will leave with postive memories. Among other outdoor pursuits, Derek is a snow board instructor in the winter.
Shepody is a duck tolling retreiver and FreshAir Adventure's mascot (he actually belongs to Joe). This would be his 15th year entertaining guests at FreshAir Adventure's home base - but unfortunately he is not here. He has moved with his master to Fort Providence, NWT. I am sure he will miss the activity around FreshAir Adventure as much as we will miss him.
