Itinerary
Two Day Itinerary: See Day 1 & 3 ($300.00/person + taxes)
Three Day Itinerary: See Day 1, 2 & 3 ($400.00/person + taxes)
Day 1: Visitors will arrive at FreshAir Adventure's kayaking centre in Alma at 8:30 o'clock for outfitting, packing of kayaks and dry-land training. At 11:00 we will be on our way, exiting Alma's scenic harbour and traveling along the Fundy National Park coastline. We will pass Devil's Half Acre, Matthews Head and Squaws Cap. At Point Wolfe, we will paddle up to the covered bridge, and learn about the early history of this area. Lunch will be prepared on a sand bar where Mi'kmacs camped and schooners docked.
After lunch, we will pass along Precambrian cliffs, perhaps observing the harbour porpoises and seals that frequent the area. In early afternoon we will reach Goose River. Some say that Captain Kidd had buried his treasure here. Here there are the choices of further exploration by kayak, exploring the hiking trails at the top of the cliffs or just relaxing before preparations for dinner. For the camera buff, there are spectacular shots all around.
Day 2: Fresh air and the sound of the ocean will start your day. This will be a day of exploration - heading towards the prominent headland of Martin Head. On the way we will hopefully see some of the animal and bird life that inhabits this coast - double crested cormorants, common loons, harbour seals and porpoises. After lunch, we will paddle back to our camping site at Goose River.
Day 3: Following breakfast we will make the return trip to Alma - the spectacular scenery of the upper Bay opening up before us. If time allows, a hike to a wilderness gorge will be undertaken at Mile Brook. Arrival at Alma is planned for mid afternoon.
